January 2023 Trip

THANK YOU!!!
We have already had £2,000 promised for the classrooms with £400 raised on the evening and regular monthly giving coming in fast.

We had a wonderful evening of feedback from Sandra and Sarah on Saturday 4th March. Here are some of the stories

The Palava Hut: The first stone has been laid in the Palava Hut, to be named “Place of Blessing”. Local workers are doing the construction.

Mother with 8 Surviving Children

What is a Palava hut?

Here’s a mother of 8 surviving children who is breaking stones to make some money for her family. She was formerly the school cleaner, but Covid put a stop to that.

The Widows’ Homes

The Widows’ Homes are completed and were officially opened by Sandra and Sarah with great celebration.

Life at Deep Eye School

Life at Deep Eye School continues to remain on our hearts. Two classrooms are slipping down a hill and need underpinning. We want to help make this happen.

Life at Deep Eye School

The Vocational Centre

continues to thrive. We bought a new char-coal oven for the catering students to cook their recipes plus five new sewing machines and 180 yards of fabric to accommodate the twenty three tailoring students. We are delighted to know that students are earning a living after finishing their courses.

The Challenge! This is what we want to do:

  • Continue to pay salaries for tutors at the vocational centre to maintain the fantastic work that is being done. A tutor earns £70 per month.
  • Raise £3,500 to underpin 2 classrooms that are falling down a hill at Deep Eye Water.
  • Raise money for zinc roofs for Widows’ homes.

If you can you help, please contact Sandra Lloyd for more information including Gift Aid forms.
