Covid 19 in Sierra Leone

Dear friends and supporters of SFFLS,

We are writing to update you on the situation in Sierra Leone under the pandemic threat of Covid 19.  Today would have been the day that Sandra and Sarah return from their trip to Sierra Leone, but circumstances have overtaken the best laid plans!  We are so grateful that we were able to make the decision to postpone their visit when we did.

Our friends in Sierra Leone have been praying daily for our health, and remain concerned for the welfare of all of us.  They are also in a state of emergency now that 3 people have been confirmed as having Covid 19; there are no deaths to date.  Talking to Ernest today we heard that there is a phased lock down situation in Freetown, with schools and colleges closing.  This will be followed by further closures.  We pray that they will be able to track all those who have come into contact with those who have the virus.  It is a time of fear for everyone, especially after the experience of Ebola only a few years ago.

The building of widows’ homes and toilets have continued with speed, and our hope is that they will get to the point of being protected from the rains which will soon be upon them.

Please continue to pray for our friends at Family Homes Movement as they prepare to lock down against the virus; for their families and the community at large.  We hold them up as they hold us up in turn.

We live in uncertain times, but have the certain knowledge that we worship a God who loves us and cares for us.

Blessings and safety to you all.
