Widows and orphans

Day Nine.

Today we ventured to Kissy where Family Homes Movement have their HQ.  We began the day with staff and a local priest who delivered mass. Beautiful worship and a heartfelt message was followed by a time with some of the widows.  We had the privilege of praying with them; such a humbling experience as we see memories of trauma and lives of hardship in their faces.  A little girl with a large swelling on her face came with her mother; we were so happy to know that she will go to the hospital tomorrow to get the attention she needs from a doctor.

Our next visit was to Grafton, where there is both a widows’ community and an orphanage.  Meet Esther who was found abandoned 18 months ago, and has been thriving at Grafton ever since.  She took a shine to pastor Clive, and showed us how she can pump water up from the well with amazing strength and Coordination.  We were able to give rice to both the widows and orphans at Grafton, along with a bag for the home where Alfred stayed.  We are so grateful for those who donated bags of rice to those in need.

Tomorrow we go to the bakery and school at Mayenkheni, and have the excitement of going up country with Ernest on Saturday.

Every day holds unexpected blessing and opportunity to show God’s love to His people.  We realise that He has a bottomless pit of compassion which constantly touches us.

Thank you for your prayers, they encourage and uphold us.

Blessings to you all,

The team,

Clive, Sandra, Sarah and Verity
